When Chad Hagle contacted me in the early part of this year and asked that I become active in SPIRE and go on the board I had no idea how many Stanford alumni were involved in various aspects of real estate.  In less than a year, Chad and the other founders have been able to put together a group of over 1200 Cardinals (or Indians, if from my era) who are involved in real estate for networking and support of a Stanford real estate curriculum.

Having been a frequent panelist for both the real estate programs at USC and UCLA, I have been frustrated over a 50 year real estate career that Stanford was without an on campus real estate program

In my history with SPIRE I have found new networking opportunities with some of the most prominent names in the real estate industry (having recently learned they were Stanford graduates).  I also discovered several Stanford graduates among my existing network.

I am anxiously awaiting the SPIRE membership directory which will come out early in 2012. Anyone who becomes a dues paying member of SPIRE will receive a copy.  The directories I have from other real estate organizations have been most helpful in my real estate career and the contacts I have gotten from them has been invaluable. 

I look forward to working with all of you in furthering the goals of SPIRE and making a meaningful contribution to your real estate career.
