Jim Buie

Jim Buie is Executive Vice President and CEO for the West and Asia Pacific Regions of Hines, and is a member of the Hines Executive Committee.  Since joining Hines in 1980, Mr. Buie has been involved in the development and management of more than 60 million square feet of commercial real estate in the Western U.S., and more than 10 million square feet in China, representing in total approximately $15 billion.  Some highlights of his career with Hines include developing the Figueroa at Wilshire building in Los Angeles, 560 Mission Street in San Francisco, and the Fourth & Madison Building in Seattle.  China highlights include the development of the Embassy House residential tower in Beijing, the 21st Century Tower in Shanghai’s Financial District, and the mixed use California Place projects in both Shanghai and Dalian.  In 2009, Mr. Buie was honored as the recipient of the NAIOP “Lifetime of Building Award”, and he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at The Branson School in Ross, California.  Mr. Buie earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1974 and his Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1980.
