On Campus: SPIRE Mentors & Mentees Gather to Wrap Up the 2017 Mentorship Program

On Thursday, June 1, SPIRE hosted “Spring 2017 Mentorship Wrap Up Celebration", an event to conclude the 2017 session of the SPIRE mentor program. Nearly 20 Stanford students and alumni attended the event held outside at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, "GSB Bowl", for a casual outdoor picnic and conversation. This was a great showing considering it conflicted with timing on Game #1 of the NBA Finals! Graduating students shared their professional and personal post-graduation plans. Many in the group will be traveling internationally before kicking-off full time careers in real estate.

The objective of the SPIRE mentorship program is to provide Stanford students an opportunity to connect with Stanford alumni in the real estate industry, providing a platform for a transfer of ideas, career planning, and industry insight. Mentor groups met at least once a month from January through May, to discuss topics such as career path trajectory, insider perspectives, achieving work/life balance in a career, and real world work examples, challenges and projects. The cohesion of the group was very transparent, as was the feedback provided about the positive impact of the SPIRE mentor program.

Mentors who attended included Board Member Travis Duncan (MS '15, MBA '17), Oisin Heneghan (MS '04) of Trammel Crow Residential, Connor Kidd ('03, MBA '08) of The Swig Company, David Kleiman, Stanford Lecturer and Co-Founder, D2 Realty Services and Meris Ota (MS '04) of Sares Regis.

The SPIRE Leadership Team wishes all graduates the best of luck in their future endeavours! Thank you to all 2017 program participants, a total of 61.
