ASPIRE hosted real estate industry expert and SPIRE Board Member Stephen Roulac (PhD '78) for a dinner-time conversation on Thursday, May 4. The topic of discussion was the means through which technological advancements are having an impact on property markets and business practices.
Specifically, the discussion focused on the increasing securitization of real estate investments, made possible by the internet, the increasing customization of workspaces to suit a broad array of tenant types, and how usage of ride sharing apps and ultimately autonomous vehicles will impact parking regulations.
Students also had the opportunity to learn about an upcoming summer study tour hosted by Mr. Roulac's firm, entitled Silicon Valley/San Francisco Disrupts Real Estate. The program will run from August 27 – September 1, and it will expand upon the sorts of topics discussed with ASPIRE.
